    Jessica is a native of Louisiana and raised right here in Shreveport.

    She went to LSU in Baton Rouge and earned a BA in Literature and Salem State University in Salem, MA where she got a Masters in Education. She has been teaching off and on for the past 13 years. She has seen many children struggle in school, but she is hopeful God’s church can make an eternal difference in the lives of children.

    She is the wife of David and the mother of three young children and a hyper dog.

  • Becca Kitchell

    Teacher, 2nd-3rd Grade Cohort

    With a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Mrs. Kitchell brings a new set of skills to MCA. She teaches music, phonics, math, and literature to the students in the 2nd/3rd grade cohort.

    Every Thursday the students enjoy a lunchtime concert when she plays her viola.

    In describing MCA she says, “I love being able to teach in such a restful environment. The kids are a joy to teach and the other staff members are so encouraging!”

    She is excited about Mercy Christian, saying, “While we currently live in a volatile and uncertain world, Mercy Christian exists to bear witness to a sure and unchanging God. Everything we are and everything we do and say and learn will begin and end with Christ, for whom and through whom everything was made.”

  • Grace Hernandez

    Grace is a graduate of Louisiana State University- Shreveport with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She has wanted to be a teacher her whole life. When asked what she enjoys most about MCA, she said, “We get to learn about God in all the different subjects; everything points back to Him. It’s also a joy to work with women who are so eager to love the Lord and share that love. I see God working in the lives of the students. God opens their hearts every time we read the Bible together!
