Currently MCA has 53 students. We do not plan to ever grow beyond 150 students so that we can ensure a high quality education and also keep administrative costs low.
In 2026-27, we will offer grades K-6th and will add a grade each year until 8th. We will not offer high school education after that, but would like to encourage and support the founding of a high school with similar values to Mercy.

Our goal is to make our education available to all families, regardless of income. Our yearly tuition is set at $8,000. We recognize this is more than many families can pay. Many of our families receive generous scholarships through Louisiana School Choice programs (ACE, Arete Scholars, or LA GATOR) or through the generous support of our scholarship fund, Friends of Mercy. Scholarship amounts are determined by a number of factors: income, household size, and the number of your children at Mercy. While every family pays something in tuition, we work hard to ensure our education is accessible to all.

Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA has generously provided plenty of classroom space for MCA since we began in 2021. The classrooms are large and full of sunlight, and there is also plenty of green space to allow the kids ample time outdoors. Studying nature and playing outside is an important aspect of our learning philosophy. The church staff is excited about the spiritual impact our school is having on children and families in our community.
In 2025 we were given a church building, which we are raising funds to renovate into a school facility. For more information, see our Build Mercy campaign.

There are over 25 failing schools in Caddo Parish. The failing schools mostly affect our low-income and middle-class neighbors. Currently, less than 5% of low-income children attend A-rated schools. We believe God cares about this inequity. Our school intentionally holds space for middle and low-income families. In order to off-set the expensive cost of tuition, we raise funds from outside donors, whose donations serve a scholarships for our families. We believe God has shown each of us mercy, which he calls us to pass on to our neighbors.

A core component of our curriculum is the person and work of Jesus Christ. Board members, teachers, and administrators believe and live out this faith as witnesses, both to MCA students and also to the world around us. At the same time, the school welcomes all children regardless of background or faith. Students will read, study, and memorize Scripture, attend daily devotions (morning prayers and hymns), and participate in weekly chapel. Other subjects will be taught in a way that emphasizes Jesus Christ as Creator and Redeemer.

Mercy Christian Academy is exciting for many reasons, but we will highlight two:
Since we are a donor-based school, we raise money to offer generous scholarships to our students. We don’t want tuition to hinder children from receiving a Christ-centered education, so we partner with donors to make this happen. This lowers the financial burden of a full tuition.
Our GROWN educational values as expressed through our curriculum make for a rich and beautiful education. Rather than focusing on sports or extra-curricular activities, our curriculum itself is the best part of our school, forming students that love to learn.

Our school’s scripture is Psalm 36:7 “How precious is your steadfast love, O Lord. The children of mankind find refuge under the shadow of your wings.” To remind us and our students that God is a refuge, our school’s mascot is the eagle.

Enrollment begins on January 1st each year and usually closes on March 31st. Spots are very limited, with openings dependent on how many students re-enroll for the new school year.
